Preparing Before Beamtime

It is recommended that users contact their assigned local contact Staff to obtain any information required for preparing their experiment. Users should first carefully check the Endstations or Manuals pages, to see what is available at the endstation which they will use.

It is important that the users have checked the following considerations with the beamline scientists prior to their scheduled experiments:
  • Sample preparation:
    • cleavable samples?
    • in-situ samples?: What evaporation sources are desired? Are the evaporation sources available at the beamline preparation chamber, or do the users prefer to install their own evaporation sources?
  • Sample mounting possibilities and constraints.
  • Temperature.
  • What energy resolution and energy are desired?
  • Other?
Setting up an experiment is, in general, performed as part of the allocated beamtime. Under favourable circumstances, it may be possible to install in advance the required complementary setup (e.g. evaporation sources). This depends on whether the endstation will be in use immediately prior to the scheduled beamtime. Check with the local contact of your experiment.

Requests for dosimeters can be obtained by the DUO. Information about accommodations during the beamtime at can be found here.
