The Photon Science Division (PSD) consists of seven laboratories working in Macromolecules and Bio-Imaging (LSB), Condensed Matter (LSC), X-ray Nanoscience and Technologies (LXN), Femtochemistry (LSF), Advanced Spectroscopy and X-ray Sources (LSX), Non-linear Optic (LNO) and Nano and Quantum Technologies (LNQ) respectively.
The laboratories Macromolecules and Bio-Imaging (LSB), Condensed Matter (LSC), Femtochemistry (LSF) and Advanced Spectroscopy and X-ray Sources (LSX) are responsible for the beamlines of the Swiss Hard X-ray Free Electron Laser (SwissFEL) and the Swiss Light Source (SLS). They are actively pursuing research covering various aspects of photon science. In addition, PSD scientists are active in education of Master and PhD students, and by teaching at various universities.
The laboratory for X-ray Nanoscience and Technologies (LXN) is active in nanofabrication and basic research on properties of nanostructures on surfaces. The LMN develops new experimental methods and turns the knowledge into nanofabrication processes.
The laboratory for Nano and Quantum Technologies (LNQ) is dedicated to fundamental and applied research, focusing on the synergies of nanotechnology and quantum science.
