Biography
Wayne Glettig has been at PSI since 2017, in the function of beamline engineer, and since 2018 as the group leader of the MX instrumentation group.
He obtained his master's degree in microengineering in 2006 from the EPF in Lausanne. His master's thesis was a concept which led to the PRIGo multi-axis goniometer, which he spent a year developing at EPFL and for three years, as part of the MX group at PSI. During this time, he contributed to automation and robotics developments at the PX beamlines. Then, in 2010, he joined the CSEM (Centre Suisse d'Electronique et de Microtechnique SA) in Neuchâtel, as a senior R&D engineer, mainly focussing on projects developing scientific instrumentation and precision mechanisms with applications in the watchmaking, microelectronics, and aerospace industries. Since 2017 he is back in the MX group and was assigned as group leader for the MX instrumentation group.
Institutional Responsibilities
The MX instrumentation group designs, develops and maintains state of the art beamline components for the three MX Beamlines at SLS and the SwissMX end-station at SwissFEL, in collaboration with the beamline scientists, other expert groups within PSI and with external companies.
Within the SLS 2.0 upgrade project, Wayne Glettig is a founding member of the SLS 2.0 beamline refurbishment core team. He has the technical lead for the three large scale beamline upgrade projects (PXI, PXII & PXIII), and was involved in many technical decisions for the future of SLS 2.0 beamlines. He is also is part of the El-Net Motion Control Workgroup at PSI.
Wayne Glettig has a focus on engineering and project management, with particular interests in scientific instrumentation, robotics, precision engineering, motion control and systems design. As larger developments require the coordinated efforts of many skilled people, Wayne Glettig strives for solid project management and strong teams.
