Biography

Claude Pradervand is the group leader of the Photonics Instrumentation Group within the Laboratory for Condensed Matter (LSC). After finishing his degree in Electrical Engineering at the Technikum Winterthur in Switzerland in 1989 he moved to the USA and gained his first engineering experience working for a University of Chicago spin-off company in electron microscopy. In 1990 he joined the Consortium for Advances Radiation Sources (CARS) at the of the University of Chicago and designed and build electronics and beamline components for the BioCARS beamline and participated in time-resolved protein diffraction research. In 1999 he moved to Switzerland and joined the Swiss Light Source Project at the Paul Scherrer Institut as beamline engineer in the MX Group. In 2014 he moved to the SwissFEL Project and  is group leader of the Photonics Instrumentation Group since 2018. The group is currently working on the ATHOS Project and involved in the SLS2.0 Project. He is a member of the ESS Motioncontrol Technical Advisory Panel.

Institutional Responsibilities

The photonics instrumentation group designs, develops and builds state of the art beamline components for the SLS and SwissFEL in collaboration with other expert groups within PSI and with external companies. Claude Pradervand is the Teamleader of the El-Net Montioncontrol Workgroup and a member of the Electronic Coordination Committee at PSI.
