Current Responsibilities
Alvaro J. Hahn Menacho is a PhD student in the Technology Assessment (TA) group of the Laboratory for Energy Systems Analysis (LEA) under the supervision of Christian Bauer at the Paul Scherrer Institute and Prof. Russel McKenna at the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering of ETH Zürich.
His research interests focus on sustainability assessment, environmentally extended input-output analysis, and (prospective) life cycle assessment. His PhD research falls within the framework of the PRISMA project, and will aim at enhancing the integration of life cycle assessment and Integrated Assessment Models (IAM), with a particular focus on improving the representation of supply chains of specialty materials in IAM pathways.
Education and previous activities
Alvaro obtained his Master’s degree in Industrial Ecology from Leiden University and TU Delft in 2020 (joint programme). He received his undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering from Universidad de Sevilla. Before joining the Technology Assessment group, he worked at the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST), where he would be in charge of conducting life cycle assessment and sustainability assessment under several European research projects.
