In his work entitled “Automatic Segmentation of Rat Heart Cardiac Muscle Cells”, Pierre investigated the feasibility of automatic segmentation of cardiac cells in 3D based on the Random Walker algorithm.
Mariona Castrejon successfully defended her Semester Thesis
With her work entitled “Multiscale high-resolution data visualization in fetal hearts” Mariona provided a systematic analysis on the existing, more common visualizations tools with the goal of identifying the most suited package to address multiscale imaging problems within the Heart Imaging Project run at TOMCAT in collaboration with the Universitat Pompeu Fabra.

Hector Dejea successfully defended his MSc Thesis
In his thesis entitled “Cardiac Microstructure Analysis with X-Ray Phase Contrast Imaging”, Hector designed a multiscale imaging setup for rodent hearts and analysed the microstructural components in endomyocardial biopsies, being able to compare in both cases control and cardiovascular disease models.
