SAfety features of the MOlten salt FAst Reactor (SAMOFAR)

The international SAMOFAR project investigates the safety features of the Molten Salt Fast Reactor (MSFR). As a part of the project vaporization behaviour of fuel salt and fission products is being investigated. The formation and growth of aerosol particles from the gas phase species is calculated using the MELCOR 2.1 code. Transport of aerosols will be simulated based on the containment thermal-hydraulic conditions and deposition on the walls and other structures estimated. The transport of gas phase species will be assessed based on available models implemented in severe accident codes. As a result, the source term in the containment will be assessed.
