OECD NEA Sandia Fuel Project (SFP)

Remnant of SFP phase I spent fuel element after the ignition test under air environment.
After the first integral experiment investigating BWR spent fuel under loss of coolant conditions (NUREG/CR-7143), which was a national research programme of US-NRC and Sandia National Laboratories, OECD/NEA launched an international project to investigate the behaviour of PWR spent fuel under the same conditions. The project was started in 2009 and the SACRE group participated in this project and was also involved in the organisation commitee of the final meeting 2013 in Paris. The project finished in February 2013 and a three years period was agreed until official release of the experimental data for publications.
