The X-ray Tomography group welcomes on board Mariana Verezhak and Goran Lovric as members of the TOMCAT beamline crew. They will both contribute to the further development and realization of TOMCAT 2.0 (S- and I-TOMCAT branches on SLS 2.0).
Mariana Verezhak is joining as I-TOMCAT adjunct scientist and will help in the development of innovative imaging applications such as high resolution tomography, coherent diffraction imaging, X-ray Fourier ptychography. Mariana was previously a Post-doc (PSI Fellow Marie Curie and European Union's Horizon 2020 grant) at the cSAXS beamline of the Swiss Light Source (SLS), where she has developed ptychographic topography, a novel high-resolution strain imaging technique, and was investigating bone tissue by correlative study with small-angle X-ray scattering tensor tomography and ptychographic tomography.
Goran Lovric is joining the TOMCAT staff scientists core team as a tenure-track beamline scientist within the framework of the TOMCAT 2.0 upgrade program. He will be mainly engaged in the planning and execution of the I-TOMCAT flagship. Goran has specialized in synchrotron X-ray microscopic imaging, in particular phase-contrast imaging applied to dynamic biological systems. In the recent years, he has worked at Confinale AG as a Senior IT Consultant in regulatory and compliance, while specializing on virtualization technologies and various topics around big data (architecture, engineering/processing, databases etc.).
