PhD students from PSI-LEA, ETH Zürich, and Ruhr University Bochum gathered in Rastatt, Germany, for a three-day seminar in February. The seminar provided students with an opportunity to network, present their research, receive feedback, and exchange ideas.
Participants from PSI-LEA, Russell McKenna’s Chair for Energy Systems Analysis at ETH Zürich, and Prof. Valentin Bertsch’s Chair of Energy Systems and Energy Economics at Ruhr University Bochum presented their PhD projects at different stages and on a wide range of topics, including sector coupling, energy markets, and life-cycle assessment, to name just a few.
During the seminar, the group toured the Rudolf-Fettweis Plant in Forbach, a pumped storage power plant run by Energie Baden-Württemberg. Participants learned about the project’s history and explored the facility, including inside the dam.
