Biography
Atreyee Acharya is a doctoral researcher in the Structure and Mechanics of Advanced Materials group. She received her bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from India where she worked on projects focusing on mechanical characterization of different materials. She went on to get her master's degree in nanoscience and nanotechnology with specialization in nanobiotechnology from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium and Université Grenoble Alpes, France jointly. During her MS thesis at CIC BiomaGUNE in Spain, she worked on covalently conjugating carbon nanotubes and carbon nanodots using various routes and the functionalization of the resulting structures, with a focus on applications in regenerative medicine and drug delivery. In 2022, she joined PSI to investigate the structure of fibrotic tissues.
Scientific Research
Atreyee is working on characterizing various fibrotic tissues using X-ray scattering techniques, birefringence microscopy, X-ray fluorescence and other methods.
