Steve Gaudez received his PhD degree from Université de Lorraine where he was part of the Microstructures et contraintes group of Institut Jean Lamour. His PhD work focused on the study of microstructural evolution, including secondary hardening precipitation, during the tempering of martensite and nanobainite microstructures via synchrotron and TEM experimental and mean field nucleation and growth numerical approaches. Then, he joins the Laboratoire de mécanique des solides at Ecole polytechnique where he studied phase transformations of alloys during additive manufacturing process.
