Luca joins the Surface Chemistry group as a PostDoc working on establishing a fundamental understanding of interfacial ion mobility using synchrotron facilities. His research targets the investigation of the local chemical environment of ions in the interlayer space of clay and the structure of the hydrogen-bonding network there at subfreezing temperatures.
Luca obtained his PhD from EPF Lausanne followed by a post-doctoral stay in the Laboratory of Ultrafast X-ray Science also at EPF Lausanne. His expertise includes vacuum ultraviolet transient absorption spectroscopy for liquid samples and time-resolved photoemission experiments.
