Experimental hutch and Sample environments

There are two experimental tables where beam can be focused down to 100 x 100 micron2.

The 1st Experimental  Table is  shown in Figure 1a. In its standard configuration, it hosts the filter box, the slits, three ionization chambers, a sample manipulator, a Pips diode, and a 5-element SGX Silicon Drift Detector (SDD). It is dedicated for XAS experiments in transmission and fluorescence modes, for measuring quickXAS on concentrated samples within ca. 1-300 s  and step-by-step XAS  longer than 20 min for diluted samples

Upon request, this setup can also be changed or partially removed to fit other experiments.  For example, a von Hamos spectrometer  can be added for measuring high resolution non-resonant XES,  RXES (resonance XES), RIXS (resonance inelastic X-ray scattering) , and HERFD XAS (high energy resolution fluorescence detected XAS).

The standard sample manipulator (Figure 1b) consists of several modules including horizontal, vertical and rotational stages. The manipulator can take up to 10 kg load. Use picture from Figure  1c to make an adaptor plate for your setup! We also have a manipulator up to 100 kg with XYZ stages, but since it is a shared resource among another beamline, users need to contact us at least 1 month in advance of their beamlines if they need it.

The table can host various setups and sample environment, such as gas mixing and switching systems, capillary reactor, potentiostats, mass-spectrometer and other equipment provided by users' groups

The 2nd Experimental Table hosts time-resolved pump-and-probe experiments with lasers and liquid jets as well as  valence-to-core (vtc) XES and HERFD XAS experiments with Johann-type XES spectrometer
