PSI had the privilege of hosting the Hercules School March 20-24, where we warmly welcomed 19 international PhD students to our facilities the Swiss Light Source (SLS), the Swiss Spallation Neutron Source (SINQ), and our free electron laser SwissFEL.
During this first in-presence school since 2019, the students were educated in a comprehensive course consisting of lectures, SLS practicals, SINQ tutorials, and tours, showcasing our state-of-the-art techniques and methodologies. The Hercules School is a five-week event organized by the Université Grenoble Alpes, with one week hosted by partner facilities, such as PSI, KIT, Soleil, DESY, European XFEL, Fermi, Elettra, ESRF, Alba, or ILL.
The group of international students consisting of 8 females and 11 males arrived from 17 universities across 10 countries, including Israel and South Africa, in addition to various European nations.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the organisers, participants, lecturers, tour guides, practical and tutorial supervisors for making this experience an unforgettable one. The local organizing committee wishes to express its sincerest gratitude for everyone's contributions to the success of the event.
