Current Responsibilities
Tom Terlouw is a scientist in the Technology Assessment (TA) group of the Laboratory for Energy Systems Analysis (LEA) at the Paul Scherrer Institut (PSI). His personal interests include sustainability assessment, multi-energy systems, carbon dioxide removal technologies, and energy system optimization. As a scientist at PSI, he will continue to focus on different topics, such as analyzing the decarbonization of the European industry and evaluating carbon dioxide removal technologies.
Education and previous activities
Tom obtained his master's degree in Energy Science from Utrecht University in 2018. Afterwards, he worked as a consultant at Energy21 for one year, where he was responsible for developing software for utility companies to optimize their data management and energy portfolio. He received his PhD from ETH Zurich in March 2023 and worked as a postdoc at the Chair of Energy Systems Analysis (ESA) until June 2024.
