The current study can be divided in two distinct phases. In the first phase the collection and preparation of spill data by means of PSI’s Energy-related Severe Accident Database (ENSAD) is carried out, followed by the development of a methodological procedure to estimate frequency and consequence distributions. The second phase then builds upon the results of phase 1, which provide the input for the Bayesian hierarchical modeling leading to the calculation of a set of dedicated risk indicators. Finally, the results are visualized by means of a Geographic Information System (GIS).
