Stephan Allenspach received the SNSS Young Scientists Prize

Stephan Allenspach receives the Young Scientist Prize from SNSS president Marc Janoschek during the SPS annual meeting in Fribourg.

Congratulations to Stephan Allenspach for receiving the Young Scientist Prize of the Swiss Neutron Scattering Society for his outstanding PhD thesis.

Stephan did his PhD in the Quantum Criticality and Dynamics Group lead by Christian Rüegg. During his PhD, he investigated the many body quantum physics of the quasi-2D spin-dimer compounds BaCuSi2O6 and Ba0.9Sr0.1CuSi2O6. For this, he used a combination of neutron scattering experiments (carried out at SINQ and other large-scale facilities), theoretical modeling of the inelastic neutron scattering intensity of spin-dimer systems, and modern statistical methods for the determination of critical exponents from phase boundaries.
