Printing with CUPS for Guest Users

Guest users with the private PCs and/or laptops usually need access to the local printing facility. This page describes how to setup your computer for printing at PSI:

The PSI printing system is based on the modern Common Unix Printing System CUPS. You will need dedicated programs, to use this printing systems. For linux based system (tested only for RedHat, should however also work on other distributions) you have to do the following:

Go to directory /etc/cups
and edit the file client.conf (first make a copy of this file).
Make sure you've one single line in it:

ServerName cups

Now use for example your Ubuntu printing tools for connecting to the printers.

On SL 5.x or 6.x there's a printing tool called "kprinter".
