We are pleased to announce that Prof. Dr. Sarbajit Banerjee has been appointed as the new Head of the Laboratory for Battery Science (LBS) at PSI, effective December 1, 2024. Prof. Banerjee joins us from Texas A&M University, where his internationally recognized research has advanced the fields of electrochemical energy storage and materials science.
In his new role, Prof. Banerjee will lead our laboratory’s efforts to uncover the fundamental mechanisms of energy storage and develop scalable, innovative solutions to accelerate the energy transition. As a Full Professor at ETH Zurich in the Department of Chemistry and Applied Biosciences, he will also play a key role in strengthening the collaboration between PSI and ETH Zurich, bridging research in battery science, inorganic chemistry, and materials design.
Prof. Banerjee’s distinguished career includes over 250 publications, 10 US patents, and numerous awards recognizing his contributions to science and innovation. His leadership promises to further the mission of the PSI Laboratory for Battery Science in delivering cutting-edge research to meet global energy challenges.
