LIN Engineers Manuel Lehmann, Sven Schütz, Dieter Graf and Peter Keller attended the 8th annual Design and Engineering of Neutron Instruments Meeting (DENIM VIII). DENIM is world’s largest conference on Neutron Instrument Engineering and is an important avenue for our engineers to share and exchange their knowledge with other international experts. This allows us to continuously develop and maintain neutron instruments for SINQ that push the current state-of-the-art.
DENIM VIII was held in North Bethesda, Maryland, USA September 17-19th. This allowed our engineers to visit the North American Neutron facilities at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee and the National Institute of Stand and Technologies in Gaithersburg, Maryland, providing ample opportunity for exchange with colleauges. In addition, Dieter Graf gave a presentation on the development of new DMC detector that is currently being carried out at LIN in collaboration with the MLZ in Munich. DENIM is organized by International Society of Neutron Instrument Engineers (ISNIE). The ISNIE consists of members from 23 national labs, universities, and other neutron research institutions from 18 countries. LIN engineer and the group leader of the LIN Mechanical and Eletrical Engineering group, Peter Keller, is also a board member of ISNIE.
