Farewell of Agnes Åhl

From October 2023 to March 2024, Agnes Åhl, a SwedNess PhD student in the group of Lennart Bergström at the Stockholm University, absolved her external stay in the Soft Matter Group at LNS. Agnes works on nanocrystalline cellulose foams and tries to explain their ultralow thermal conductivity, and its dependence on humidity. Cellulose is a hierarchical material, thus diving into the atomic scale is needed to explain some of its macroscopic properties. During her stay Agnes performed many experiments and learned about neutron spectroscopy, phonons and diffusion, small angle scattering and imaging. Her excellence was awarded with the "Best Poster award" during the 2nd French-Swiss Meeting on SANS for Soft Matter, which took place last January at PSI. The users of FOCUS instrument will profit from her engagement in the form of a python code, which can be used to extract the temperature dependent mean squared displacement. The Soft Matter group thanks Agnes for her scientific engagement and exchange, fostering discussions and collaborative nature that have impacted us all. As Agnes moves forward, we wish her every success in her future endeavours. May your PhD journey ahead be filled with continued growth, fulfillment, and success!
