Metal additive manufacturing

Explore our cutting-edge miniaturized Laser Powder Bed Fusion (L-PBF) devices, specially designed for operando X-ray and neutron diffraction and imaging experiments. These state-of-the-art tools enable real-time investigation of additive manufacturing processes, providing unprecedented insights into microstructural evolution, stress development, and phase transitions during fabrication.

Within our group, a miniaturized laser powder bed fusion device was developed to perform operando X-ray diffraction, scattering and imaging experiments.  The device exhibits the basic functionalities of a commercial L-PBF device. More

The SMAM group has closely collaborated with the Applied Materials Group to develop an L-PBF device optimized for usages at the Swiss Neutron Spallation Source. More
