On 21. Novemeber 2024, Maria-Elisenda Alaball Pujol has successfully defended her PhD project titled "Quantifying bacterial responses to antibiotics at the single-cell level" and was awarded the prestigious grade of magna cum laude.
Lis developed new microfluidic designs that together with microscopy and image analysis tools, allow the tracking of single bacterial cells over the time course of antibiotic treatments to quantify the response dynamics of the bacterial population.
Her reasearch project was enabled by SNI PhD School program (P1805) in cooperation between Biozentrum (Uni Basel, Prof. Dr. Erik van Nimwegen) and LNQ.
