Promoting the energy transition by leveraging bounded rationality and appropriately redesigned policies
PROBOUND investigates a set of Bounded Rationality (BR) types in three key energy-related decision-making processes in personal mobility - a sector highly prone to BR, because of heterogeneous decision-making at individual- and household levels. It assesses impacts of mobility related BR on the Swiss energy transition goals from the whole energy system perspective. It provides insights to re-design a broad range of policy instruments. The research hinges on the co-simulation of an agent-based model of the Swiss personal mobility (BedDeM) with an overarching model of the Swiss Energy System (STEM). Already been coupled with reference to fleet evolution and mobility trips, they will be developed to cover the impacts on the purchase of vehicles and emerging/ innovative mobility services, leading to specific innovation diffusion trajectories. Thus, offering insights on policy-design in the presence of BR and exceeds current knowledge on specific policy interventions.
