Ferrovac Ltd. was founded in 1996 as a spin-off company of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zürich. The company develops, designs and sells components for the ultra high vacuum technology (UHV) as well as instruments for surface analytics and nanotechnology. Sample manipulation in UHV plants belongs to the core business of Ferrovac. Due to the performance of its magnetically driven movements, Ferrovac has set new standards. The cooperation between PSI and Ferrovac began in 2002. Currently, Ferrovac is successfully developing components in cooperation with PSI for the planned SwissFEL. A KTI Project is being prepared for the development of a novel scanning probe microscope. In cooperation with PSI, Ferrovac acts as supplier as well as customer and licence holder.
For our company, the longstanding collaboration with PSI is very valuable. In different divisions we can benefit from the expert knowledge of the PSI team. The great wealth of experience and the excellent infrastructure are quite useful for us, and due to the common working out of objectives we are always staying close to the top of research and technology.
