Energy security

By 2050 Switzerland is supposed to produce as many greenhouse gas emissions as can be safely kept in natural and technical storage facilities.

How can we achieve this goal – and what will our energy situation look like in 2050?

Researchers at the Paul Scherrer Institute PSI have dared to look into the future and calculated various scenarios using a highly complex computer model.

In this video, we present three possible scenarios, focusing on electricity consumption in particular.

By 2050 electricity usage will increase to around 50 percent of end-user energy consumption. But where will the electricity come from?
