Your tasks
We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to contribute to the modeling of the European Sodium Fast Reactor (ESFR), a 3600 MWt Generation-IV nuclear reactor developed over the past three decades through a series of Euratom collaborative projects.
As part of the ongoing ESFR-SIMPLE project (2022–2026), your research will focus on modeling neutronic and material behavior under both steady-state and transient conditions for two ESFR designs:
- 360 MWt MOX-fueled ESFR-SMR
- 3600 MWt U-10Zr-fueled ESFR-M
This position offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge nuclear reactor technology, contributing to the advancement of next-generation fast reactors.
Your profile
- PhD degree in Nuclear Engineering or Physics
- Strong background in reactor physics and fast reactor technology
- Proficiency in using neutronic simulation tools (e.g., Serpent)
- Familiarity with materials modeling and thermomechanical behavior of nuclear fuels is an advantage
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative research environment
- Strong scientific communication skills, including publication in peer-reviewed journals and presentation at conferences
