Die Schweizer Forschungsinfrastruktur für Teilchenphysik CHRISP Die Synchrotron Lichtquelle Schweiz SLS ist seit 2001 in Betrieb. Nun ist ein Upgrade dieser schweizweit einmaligen Grossforschungsanlage geplant. Denn die Wissenschaft, die Technik, die Ingenieurskunst und die Datenverarbeitung sind seither um einiges weitergekommen. Die SLS 2.0, so der Name des Modernisierungsprojekts, wird neuartige, bessere und tiefgehendere Forschung ermöglichen als bisher. Zudem bleibt mit der Neuausstattung die SLS im internationalen Vergleich mit anderen Synchrotron-Lichtquellen im vorderen Bereich.
