PhD Student for Synchrotron Diagnostics

Your tasks

  • You will carry out simulations and experimentally compare various diagnostics for beam profile measurements, using both visible light and X-rays
  • You will measure the beam profiles for novel accelerator configurations and carry out experiments at the SLS 2.0 and/or other synchrotron facilities
  • You will enroll in the PhD program at EPFL, under the supervision of Prof. Dr Mike Seidel
  • You will present your work at international workshops and conferences

Your profile

  • You hold a Master’s degree in physics or a related field
  • You are open minded, communicative, have a strong team spirit, and you enjoy working in international environment
  • You have programming skills in python, MATLAB or other programming languages
  • You are interested in experimental, hands-on work in a state-of-the-art accelerator
